About APPLA
The Association for the Promotion of Polish Language Abroad (APPLA), based in Edinburgh (Scotland), is a non-profit organisation promoting Polish as a heritage or second language, as well as mother tongue.
We aim to represent and promote the interests of the Polish language in Scotland, the United Kingdom and the wider world.
At APPLA we are committed to deliver our stated goals through:
- a campaign for the bilingual development of children of Polish origin living abroad (see dedicated website: www.podarujdzieckujezyk.pl),
- the promotion of Polish complementary schools and the improved teaching of Polish in these schools (through workshops, conferences, publication of teaching guidelines and teaching materials),
- taking part in promotional campaigns and events related to the use of the Polish language organised by Polish institutions (Rada Języka Polskiego, Narodowe Centrum Kultury etc.),
- promotion of learning Polish as a foreign language outside of Poland (including maintenance of an online database of available courses, promotion and publication of teaching materials etc.), and the promotion of Certificate Examinations in Polish as a Foreign Language.
